Teachers
Every teacher has familiarity working in intercultural situations and understands how it feels to study another language and live in a different culture. All of our teachers have a university degree and certificates to teach English as a second language. They all have minimum of 3 years experience teaching adult group classes, including at least 1 year teaching overseas. The teachers create unique materials for each topic and work together to ensure that each student gets the most benefit from the themes covered. They incorporate textbooks, teaching methods, and computer technology into the lessons. These elements create a pleasant, successful language learning experience.
Regular Assessment
ECC ESL Canadian College cares about our students progress. Therefore, the best way to find out how much each student's English has improved is through regular assessment. This allows the students to practice what they have learned in class, while at the same time it allows our teachers to check that the students understood their lessons and can actually use their new knowledge. Students will have written and oral tests at the end of each session and a report card will be issued after the test. Students will meet frequently with their teachers and academic staff to discuss their progress.
Individualized Placement
On the first day of school our students take a test to assess their skills in several areas of the English language. We then place them in
classes with students of a similar level.
Multimedia Computer Centre
ECC ESL Canadian College has a Computer Laboratory with CD burners, e-mail and Internet access, as well as Language Software
Programs that complement our curriculum. Students are expected to use the Internet for homework, research, and self-study, and it can
be used before or after classes to keep in touch with relatives and friends back home.
